Odisha government today said that it plans to set up at least 21 new ITIs (industrial training institutes) in the next two years while five such institutes have already been made operational in the last three years.
This was revealed by Skill Development and Technical Education Minister Usha Devi while highlighting her department’s achievements in the last three years.
The ITIs have been established at Rasanpur (Sambalpur district), Barkote (Deogarh), Mathili (Malkangiri), Bisamkatak (Rayagada) and Raigada (Gajapati), Usha Devi said.
The minister said that the new ITIs would be set up in Kantabanji, Bansapal, Bhadaripohkari, Karanjia, Athamalik, Kotagarh, Damanjodi, Kutra, Koida, Lanjigarh, Krushnaprasad, Nandapur, Birmaharajpur, Rajkanika, Badamba, Bhanjanagar, Jagatsinghpur, Kaptipada, Parjang and Balugaon.
She also said that special ITIs (residential) for the person with disability are already functioning at Khudpur and Jatni.
The minister added that all the 30 districts of the state have now government polytechnic colleges.
