Bhubaneswar has turned empty walls of public lavatories into canvases for paintings, urging people to stop open defecation altogether. Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has taken an innovative art route to give powerful message to stop open defecation at the same time making the city beautiful and clean.
Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation has joined hands with Bakul Foundation to make use of Wall art to communicate with people and convey social messages. They are painting the walls of the public toilets in a bid to curb open defecation.
The BMC will replicate the idea in 27 more public and 26 community toilets across the city in the next few months. The idea will also be replicated in 53 upcoming toilets across the city that are in the pipeline.
