Railways minister Suresh Prabhu announced that a new full-fledged station will come up at Paralakhemundi in Gajapati district. Prabhu also announced that the Railways will give a market linkage to tribal artifacts and handlooms through Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC). Tribals will get an online platform for marketing of their products.
“Even women self-help groups (SHGs), who are making traditional Odia cuisines and other food materials, can get opportunity to sale their product in Railways. We will try to help them in marketing their product,” he added.
Prabhu laid foundation stone for Khurda Road-Puri bypass line, fourth line between Rourkela and Bondamunda, Multi-disciplinary Training Centre at Jagatpur in Cuttack and maintenance facilities for MEMU units at Khurda Road. He inaugurated lift and escalators at Bhubaneswar railway station, double line between Handapa and Saragipali stations in Angul-Sambalpur doubling project, raising and extension of platform no-1 and new platform no-2 and new approach road at Jharsuguda Road station through videoconferencing.
