Within all the attires(Beshas) of Mahaprabhu, the golden attire or Suna Besha is very attractive.
In this Besha, the wealth of Mahaprabhu is reflected.
On Ratnasinghasan,Suna Besha is conducted four times,i.e on Kartika Purnima,Dashahara,Dola Purnima and Poushya Purnima. But on Asadha Shukla Ekadashi, the deities are adorned in Suna Besha outside the temple,on the three chariots at Singhadwar.
It is reflected from Odisha history that the Gajapati kings accepted Mahaprabhu as the National Deity or the head of the country and showed themselves as Rauta or servants of Mahaprabhu.
This Suna Besha on the chariots is called Bada Tadhau Besha.
It is recorded in the Madala Panji that in the year 1460,Gajapati Kapilendra Deba won the battle against the Southern King(Daakhinatya) with the blessings of Mahaprabhu and Maa Jayadurga. He brought back tons of gold and other wealthy items on 16 elephants from the south. He donated all the wealth to Shri Jagannath.
He expressed his desire to get ornaments constructed for the deities using the gold he brought. He shared his views with Tadhau Karana, who was in charge of taking care of the gold.
The Tadhau Karana requested His Majesty that since all devotees do not get the chance to have Darshan of most of the Beshas inside the temple, therefore the Besha should be conducted on the chariots on the occasion of Bada Ekadashi,so that people from any religion could have Darshan of the deities.Kapilendra Dev agreed to him and from then,Suna Besha is bring conducted on the chariots every year the day after Bahuda.
