Xavier School of Rural Management (XSRM), Xavier University, Bhubaneswar (XUB) conducted its Annual Rural Marketing Fair, at Adaspur village, Cuttack on the 20th, 21st and 22nd of September, 2019. The theme for this year was, “Kaushal Gram – A Skilled Village”.
Gramotsava’19 was inaugurated by, BDO Mr. K. Ashok (OAS), BEO Mr. Devendra Kumar Barik (OES) along with Rev. Fr. P. Anthony Raj S.J. (Deputy Registrar, XUB) and Ms. Arpita Saha (Professor, XCOMM).
The grand fair, GRAMOTSAVA, organized by the students of XSRM, XUB, aims to bridge the gap between the rural and urban communities. It tries to identify the institutional voids in the villages and strives to bring in relevant products from various market places for making the day-to-day life and workflow for the villagers easier.
This year the students attempted to raise awareness on the importance of self-employment and skill development among the rural communities. To cater to this theme, awareness programs like the Pradhan Mantri Employment Generation Programs, private financial service institutions like Ujjivan and Vistaar had their stalls set up on the field. Advanced agricultural tools like KAMCO Power Tillers were introduced this year. In addition to this, the rural communities were given a taste of some people-friendly brands such as Yamaha, Storia, TVS Scooters, and Hyundai.
The most significant part of Gramotsava is creating a sense of connectivity between the rural management students with the village communities, in the form of field promotions, one-on-one interactions, and marketing campaigns. Being a part of this two-day rural marketing fair gave the students insights into rural marketing, understanding the day to day needs and consumer psychology behind the purchase of products or services.
The students of XSRM, contributed significantly to the annual rural marketing fair, adding value to the discourse and making Gramotsava’19 a huge success.
