Nihar Ranjan samal is the Sound Mixer for the bollywood movie Piku starring Amitabh Bachhan, Deepika Padukone and Irfan khan. He also won National Film Award for film Madras Cafe.
Nihar is one of the more popular and respected sound designers in Hindi Cinema these days. An FTII alumnus he won a National Award for his diploma film Tatvam Asi ( 1997 ) and has worked on all kinds of films- short films, documentaries, indie feature films, regional films and mainstream commercial Hindi films as well.
In 61st National film awards sound recordist Nihar Ranjan Samal was also awarded for a “superlative professional job, in picking up minute nuances, covering indoor as well as outdoor locations” for ‘Madras Cafe’.
His filmography includes films like 3 Idiots, Vicky Donor, Tanu Weds Manu, Ferrari Ki Sawaarietc. Pairon Talle, Lafangey Parindey, Natasha,Eik Dasttak,Kareeb, The Coffin Maker ,The Name of a River and odia film Baaja .
