The recently developed sandbar resort at Badmul is attracting large number of tourists after it was opened a few weeks ago. The three Swiss tents put up on the sand are booked to capacity. For a day’s stay, tourists have to shell out Rs 1,500 per tent. This includes camp fire facility at the resort. The EDC members (villagers) manage the tents and provide food to the guests.
The new site is located at Atalsara, the buffer zone of the sanctuary, which borders Boudh district. People from Balangir, Boudh and Subarnapur in western Odisha and Kandhamal, Gajapati and Ganjam in south Odisha can reach the spot within two to three hours.
