The capital of the beautiful state of Odisha has recently been witnessing a rise in events which are proving to be crowd pullers to people with brimming ideas and a thirst for knowledge.
One such initiative has been taken by the KIIT University, in associating itself with the international and very popular TED talks. TED is a nonpartisan non-profit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x means independently organised TED event.
TEDxKIITUniversity believes in the concept of the ‘substantiality of ideas’. They aspire to organise themselves into a platform that strives to bring ideas out of closets and lend them a voice, loud and clear enough to motivate others in the process of their own implementation. One of its kind in the city of Bhubaneswar, TEDxKIIT University debuted in the year 2016, and defying all speculations, it proved to be a success.
This year too, the team of TEDxKIITUniversity hopes to live up to the standard of TED. The theme this year is – ‘Butterfly effect: The biggest small change’. Seemingly small and inconsequential changes have the potential to bring about a myriad of unexpected outcomes in the longer run. The notion, that a tiny butterfly can have such great effects on the subsequent events clearly shows that no idea or even the semblance of one is ever insignificant or inconsequential enough.
With myriad of speakers attending the conference to deliver on the above theme and their story, right now – K Vaitheeswaran, Founder of India’s First E-commerce website to Dr Teju Nageswari, Founder of ‘nSmiles’ which seeks to help depression and anxiety victims, are only a few to name. This year they believe in starting small. This year they celebrate an individual’s worth, a small step’s vitality- the biggest small change. And in the end, all hope lies on team to make TEDxKIITUniversity a massive success – thus adding a golden feather to KIIT University’s cap.
