Can the State Governments join hands to improve the business environment in the country?
Yes, senior officials in the Central Government’s Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion (DIPP) think so. The Government can make it easier for business houses to do business.
With such an idea, a two-day national symposium will be organised by the Odisha Government in association with the DIPP here on August 22 and 23. State Commissioner-cum-Secretary Industries Vishal K Dev is coordinating the programme.
While Union Minister Commerce & Industry Nirmala Sitharaman will be present at the symposium, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will inaugurate event, where who’s who of the India’s industry and business are likely to turn up.
It is expected that Reliance Industries Limited CMD Mukesh Ambani, Tata Group Chairman Cyrus Mistry, Tata Steel MD TV Narendran, Hero MotoCorp’s Pawan Munjal and Accenture India CMD Avinash Vashistha will turn up at the symposium.
Odisha Chief Secretary Gokul Chandra Pati, Union Secretary of Commerce & Industry Rajeev Kher, Union Secretary of DIPP Amitabh Kant and Planning Commission Member Arun Maira will also participate in the symposium.
Besides, various big players of industry sector including Tata, L&T, Hindalco and Nalco are expected to attend the event.
