GBG, Bhubaneswar, launched in 2013, has over 7,000 members. It may be noted that in 2014, GBG Bhubaneswar was awarded third best Google Start-up Community in the world and has nurtured a strong team of 100 committed citizens and students start-up evangelists in Bhubaneswar.
The local chapter will be organizing a Start-up Weekend for the first time in Bhubaneswar starting on August 14.
Start-up Weekends are 54-hour events where developers, designers, marketers, product managers and start-up enthusiasts come together to share ideas, form teams, build products, and launch start-ups.
The Startup Weekends are Google-aided events where developers, designers, marketers, product managers and young entrepreneurs come together to share ideas, form teams, build products and launch start-ups. Over 2,000 such events in many countries have already been organised.
The event starts with participants pitching in their ideas of start-ups. They then form teams around the top ideas and spend the rest of the weekend validating and building it aided by local mentors. On the final day, the teams demo their prototypes and receive valuable feedback from a panel of experts.
Around 200 aspiring entrepreneurs would take part in the event.
The top three selected ideas will get a chance to take part in a fest to be held in Hyderabad in the last week of August – where they would meet investors to launch their ideas.
