What’s On This Year: 31 Festivals And Events Worth The Journey In 2016
From Tomorrowland in Belgium to Kashmir’s Tulip Festival, here are our top picks for the year wrote National Geographic which showcases India Surf Festival in Odisha among top 31 festivals in world.
The city of Puri in Odisha has become a magnet for more than temple devotees. For the last five years, surfers from India and abroad have been congregating on its sandy shores to compete in the India Surf Festival, or just catch a wave in good company. The India Surf Festival returns to Ramachandi beach from Sat November 12 to Mon November 14, 2016.
Turn up to cheer on the competitors in the surfing, stand-up paddling, and skateboarding championships. Or better yet, pick up skills from workshops led by the pros. Test the waters with a stand-up paddling workshop, nicknamed “Walk on Water”. Certified instructors will be on hand to coach amateur surfers. The venue will also feature paved roads and mini ramps, where visitors can get the hang of skateboarding from experts.
Take a break from the sand and surf to groove to live music, or wander over to the art installations and photography exhibition on adventure sports. Visitors can also sign up for filmmaking and photography workshops at the festival.
