In Bhubaneswar, most shrines of Lord Siva were built during 7th to 12th Century CE, thus showing the prominence of Shaivitism (a Hindu sect that idolizes Lord Siva) in that era; Shree Shree Megheswar Temple is one among them. This temple with its arched gate, stone engravings on the shrine, wall carvings of graceful dancers and the surrounding greenery compels a visit from religious devotees as well as art lovers and students of architecture.
