Bhubaneswar is one of the few cities that observing Earth Hour since 2007 by encouraging Households, Govt. Buildings, Monuments and businesses houses etc to turn off their non-essential lights for one hour to raise awareness about the need to take action on climate change. This year too we at Local Governance Network requested Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA), Odisha Secretariat, Odisha Legislative Assembly and Commissionerate police Bhubaneswar-cuttack along with several offices in Bhubaneswar and throughout the state urban local bodies, civil society groups, media houses, business groups, senior citizens and schools and colleges to observe the day by switching off their lights.

The day is significant as it sends a message across that energy saving is a responsibility of every citizen. We believe like past eight years, people in Bhubaneswar & Odisha will observe the day this year too by sending a mass message that everyone is concern for living planet.
