A 35-ft idol will be the cynosure of all eyes during Ganesh Puja scheduled for Friday. It is being made by members of Winner Association near Imfa Park at near Saheed Nagar here.
“For the first time, such a huge idol of Ganesh is being made by any community pandal in the city. It will definitely attract a lot of people to the pandal,” said Niroj, a member of the association.
Idol makers from West Bengal have been working on it for over a month. Around Rs 4 lakh is being spent on it. “We have decided to dissolve the idol at the pandal and immerse a smaller one in the river according to rituals,” a member added.
The association that has been celebrating Ganesh Puja for the last 12 years will organize special cultural programmes for five days this time. “We have invited visually-challenged and unprivileged children to the puja and arranged special programmes for them,” he said. A drawing competition on ?Ganesh Puja’ will also be organized for schoolchildren.
