While most of the media industrial research are always done with the only motive of increasing profits, it is the sociological research done by students and scholars which refelect ground realites about impact of media in our life. It includes a whole range of study about the development of media, their achievements and effects. The scholarly surveys include ground research, provides evidential data and evaluates its impact on common people’s life.
The 3rd International Conference organized by Xavier School of Communications, Xavier University Bhubaneswar will be having various paper presentations which will evaluate many of such researches. “Social Media and the changing communication environment” is the theme of the conference this year which will be held on 15 and 16 December 2017. It is the only media school which organizes Conference on media research studies done by students and scholars.
It has been three years since the Xavier School of Communications has been organizing the conference.“Out of 120 abstracts received, we shortlisted 70 abstracts. On further review we enrolled 50 full papers. Finally we selected 48 papers to be presented in the conference“ informed Prof. Nadira Khatun, the convenor of the International Conference and faculty of XCOMM . “All abstracts were checked for plagiarism, and with further review by our committee members we have shortlisted only peer-reviewed papers”, added Prof. Khatun.
What makes this conference of international stature is the presence of the keynote speakers Mr. Areil C Sebellino, Executive Director of Philippine Press Institute and Dr. Sharon Wilson, Assistant Professor from University Tunku Abdul Rahman, Malaysia. Mr. Sebellino will speak on “The Low down of social media” on the first day and on the second day, Prof. Wilson will address “WhatsApp with my students? Mobile learning and interactivity in a virtual space” on 15th Dec and 16th Dec respectively.
A panel disscussion by eminent journalists Mr. Krishna Prasad, former editor-in-chief of The Outlook, and Mr Anupam Dasgupta, a senior assistant editor with the Times of India Group .The International guests will also be a part of it. The key note paper presenters and the panel discussion will be broadcasted live in the official YouTube channel of Xavier University Bhubaneswar.
