Emergence of Bhubaneswar as an education hub remains its most noticeable achievement since the first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru, laid the foundation stone of the modern capital city 68 years ago on April 13, 1948. Besides apex central institutes such as IIT, AIIMS, National Institute of Science Education and Research and National Institute of Fashion Technology, the city of temples boasts of the much sought-after Institute of Life Sciences, Institute of Physics, Institute of Mathematics and Applications and Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology, among others.
This apart, eight universities and around 100 engineering and management institutions, attracting students from several others states and abroad, make it a students’ city.
