With the Centre approving Odisha governments proposal to set up a National Investment and Manufacturing Zone (NIMZ) at Kalinga Nagar, Union Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today said the first phase of the project will be completed by 2020.
“A total of Rs 4,241 crore will be invested in the proposed NIMZ at Kalinga Nagar in Jajpur district. The first phase of the project will be completed by 2020 with initial investment of Rs 3,816 crore,” Pradhan told reporters here.
Stating that the Union Ministry of Commerce has estimated that the NIMZ project would create employment opportunities for over 1.5 lakh people, Pradhan thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Commerce Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for the approval.
“Approval to this NIMZ project ahead of Prime Minister Modis visit to Odisha clearly signifies the Centres thrust on the development of Odisha and eastern India,” Pradhan said in a statement.
Besides witnessing growth of metal industries in the state, this NIMZ would boost the prospect of Paradip Port, road, air and rail connectivity in Odisha, Pradhan said adding the youths of Odisha can avail employment opportunities.
The proposed project would be a mega industrial zone having a world-class township to cater to the needs of the investors.
The Kalinga Nagar NIMZ would be the third Investment and Manufacturing Zone of India involving a massive area of 163 sq km.
The state government has committed to provide uninterrupted power supply, dedicated industrial feeder and quality physical infrastructure and common facilities for the project.
