If things go as per plans, Air Vistara flights to and from the city will be a reality soon.
Representatives of the new domestic carrier will hold discussions with Biju Patnaik International Airport authorities on modalities to start domestic operations from here on July 9. Air Vistara is a joint venture between Tata Sons Limited and Singapore Airlines Limited (SIA).
Airport sources said Vistara evinced interest to operate flights from here after Goair successfully started four of its flights. With commissioning of Goair flights, total number of domestic flights running from the city has touched 20.
Domestic operation has received a boost after the state government in 2013 slashed Value Added Tax on Aviation Turbine Fuel by 15 per cent. The domestic carriers are no paying VAT at the rate of five per cent.
Other domestic carriers, which have evinced interest to run flights from here are ABC airways and Air Costa.
