The Central govt has selected Bhubaneswar and Rourkela cities under its ambitious ‘smart cities mission’ project. Union minister of urban development Venkaiah Naidu on Thursday declared nominations of total 98 cities in the country under the flagship scheme.
Adequate water supply, assured electricity supply, sanitation, including solid waste management, efficient urban mobility and public transport, affordable housing, especially for the poor, robust IT connectivity and digitalization, safety and security of citizens and health and education facilities involve the core infrastructure elements of the ‘smart city’ project.
