Semester papers of the Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) of Odisha and all engineering colleges under it will be evaluated online from the next academic session.
A decision to this effect was taken at the BPUT Board of Governors’ meeting at the State Secretariat here today.
Briefing newsmen after the meeting BPUT vice chancellor JK Satpathy said there would be complete digitisation of the entire answer scripts.
“After the digitisation, a soft copy of the answer scripts would be sent online to the examiners in charge of evaluation. There would be no physical sending of these answer sheets. The advantage of this new system is that there would be minimal error in evaluation,” Satpathy said.
Secretary, Employment and Technical Education and Training (ET&T) Chandrasekhar Kumar informed that BPUT has formed subject-wise committees of senior teachers to prepare lecture notes.
Apart from ringing in changes in the study and examination patterns, the meeting also decided to make the entire process starting from the admission of the students till their passing out, online.
Besides, to bring admission, research and training activities under one roof, it was proposed that a common facilitation centre would be set up at Gandamunda on the outskirts of the capital city at an estimated cost of Rs 35 crore.
