On the eve of International Human Rights Day, students of KISS gave a message of peace to the world as well as need to join hands against terrorism. Previous record on this feat was made in Dubai by 6,958 people. The second record was created when the students of KISS achieved “Most Simultaneous Hi-Five in a Human Chain”.
“It is something really unbelievable the students of KISS are doing for promoting world peace”, said governor S C Jamir, who flagged off the human chain. As many as 25,151 students participated in making of this record. Previous record for “Most simultaneous high-fives” involved 7,238 people in Canada.
Expressing his happiness over this achievements, Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS thanked the officials of Guinness World Records and students of KISS, and said, it is not only a matter pride for KISS, but also for Odisha as well as entire country.
“Be the change that you want to see”, said Dr Jamir, quoting Mahatma Gandhi, while advising students to excel in their education and be a global citizen.
The complete chain was formed at 8.00 a.m. and maintained for duration of three minutes, during which the traffic was regulated. While curious passersby greeted and encouraged the participants, dignitaries from different walks of life assembled at all important intersections of the city to support the cause. Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik hailed the initiative of the students. Education is the key to awareness and success, he added, while congratulating the institute for the world records.
