An Odissi Dance Centre would be opened on January 16 next at the Oxford University in the United Kingdom to help Odissi dance gain global recognition. It is an initiative of Baisali Mohanty, a Master’s Degree student in International Studies at the university.
The centre would hold regular Odissi dance classes for university members. Classes and Odissi workshops at other renowned institutions like the Cambridge University, the London School of Economics, the University College London (UCL), the King’s College London (KCL), the University of Manchester and the University of Edinburgh would be conducted by the centre’s founder-director Baisali Mohanty.
