1st April 2018: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia : Malaysia Odia Community (MOC), in Malaysia, comprising of expatriate Odias came together to celebrate Utkal Dibasa today. The celebrations were held at Indian Cultural Centre, Kuala Lumpur. Mr. Nikhilesh Giri, Deputy High Commissioner, Indian High Commission, Malaysia graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
Mr. Dipti Ranjan Nanda, President, MOC welcomed the dignitaries and the guests. He alluded the importance of this day and urged the fellow Odias to promote the culture of Odisha beyond the state of Odisha. This event also attracted visitors from other nationalities who expressed their interest in our culture.
The celebrations begun with the rendition of “Bande Utkal Janani” by our fellow Odias. Artists from the temple of fine arts, Kuala Lumpur performed a mesmerizing Odissi performance. Amongst other programs, a sambalpuri dance presented by our Odia members enthralled the audience. Members of the local Odia community in Malaysia were also present and appreciated the efforts of the MOC to connect them to their roots.
The president, Mr. Dipti Ranjan Nanda, Vice- President, Mr. Ashok Jena and Secretary, Dr. Snigdha Misra and a hundred over Odias , together organized this event.
