Every year 16th October is widely celebrated as World Food Day. And on this occasion, today multi-award winning film production company ‘BnR Films’ has released the much-awaited English documentary themed on Agriculture/Horticulture and farmers of Dangarbheja (Nandahandi Block), Nabrangpur (Odisha). ‘A ‘ZERO-TO-HERO’ COLLABORATIVE APPROACH – BY DANGARBHEJA PANCHAYAT AND GOVINDALAYA’ is the first ever documentary of BnR Films in KBK District, Odisha, written and directed by multi-award winning Biswanath Rath (CEO of BnR Films). It’s all about success story of collaboration between one Panchayat and a Civil Society Organisation showing how together these institutions are uplifting and face-lifting social, economic conditions of farmers.
Talking about the project, Director Biswanath says, ‘This project is in line with our vision and commitment to make films/documentaries based on Indian cultures, traditions and inspirational stories. When we got to know about ‘contest for short films on inspirational success story of Panchayats’ by Ministry of Panchayati Raj, Govt. of India, we realized a good opportunity to understand the real India. We started in-depth research about panchayats across India. We came across this unique story of ‘Centre of Empowerment’’ in Naqndahandi Block of Nabarangpur district modeled on Public-Private-Academia-Community’ Partnership’ (PPACP). The story is so inspiring that we decided to shoot. By end of shoot we realized, it was not just the story which inspired us. It was also the infinite support extended by everyone including Villages, Farmers, Panchayat, Govindalaya, Dist. Administration and Academicians in successfully executing the shoot in just 2 days. Thanks to the determination and dedication of our technical team, we have completed the documentary in just 18 days. We are releasing this film on World Food Day as a tribute to all the farmers. Like our other films, this film will also be sent to various International Film Festivals so as to reach the global audience.”
‘Centre of Empowerment’ spread over 31 Acres of land developed by Govindalaya at Soruguda village (Dangarbheja Panchayat) appears to be slowly changing image of the district. Experts from OUAT, KVK and district level officers are using its facilities to train local farmers and demonstrate various agriculture and horticulture related techniques. 200 farmers have already benefited from this initiative.
