World Under-10 Girl’s Chess Champion Woman Candidate Master Saina Salonika will add another feather in her cap as she will receive National Child Award for Exceptional Achievements for 2014. Government of India has nominated Saina Salonika of Odisha for this prestigious Award for her exceptional achievements in Chess and multifarious talents in the field of modeling, anchoring and dance.
In a communiqué to Saina Salonika by Women and Child Development Department of Government of India, she has been intimated that she will receive the award from the President of India in the Rastrapati Bhavan on November 14. She will receive a cash award of Rs10,000, silver medal and a certificate. Saina who got gold medal in the World Youth Chess Championship 2013 at Dubai had a lot more international and National medals in her kitty.
She got gold medal in Commonwealth Chess Championship 2012, gold medal in Asian School Chess Championship at Colombo in 2010 and at New Delhi in 2012. She also got bronze medal in the World Youth Chess Championship 2011 at Caldas Novas , Brazil and became the youngest ever Odia girl to get International Title of Woman Candidate Master in 2012 She became National Under-7 Chess Champion in 2010 and also National School Chess Champion in 2012 besides becoming the times State Champion in her age group in 2010,2012 and 2014 –
