Pune Odia community organization, Utkal Samaj Pune organized First ever cricket tournament named Utkal Premier League 2018 for pune Resident odia people. Tournament started on 26th may and played on weekends. Total six teams participated in the league. Sambalpur Samurais, Baleswar Bulls, Rourkela Rangers, Bramhapur Blasters, Cuttack Cruisers and Bhubaneswar Jaguars were the six teams which played in the tournament.

Final match played on 17th June at Annasaheb Magar Stadium Pimpri Pune. Baleswar Bulls were the eventual champions defeating Cuttack Cruisers by 52 runs. Baleswar scored 113 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 15 overs. Sarat (38) and Jyoti (34) were the top scorers for Baleswar Bulls. Cuttack cruisers scored 61 runs being all-out. Ashish of Baleswar team declared man of the final for taking 5 wickets for 10 runs including a hat-trick.

Alok of Cuttack team declared Best batsman and Man of the Series, Ashish of Baleswar declared Best Bowler, Basant of Rourkela team declared best fielder of the League.

Mrs. Shubhadarshini Debata and Mr. Dillip Mekap were the chief guest along with Mr. Amulya Bal, President Utkal Samaj, Mr. Gyana ranjan Panda treasurer Utkal samaj presented the awards to the team and players.

An odia food festival also held on this occasion to give a perfect closure to this most awaited event and the Raja festival. Delicious odia foods and Raja pan served during this food fest.

Sports wing of Utkal samaj informed about the next season of UPL to be played on November 2018.
