In tune with the three upcoming airports in Western Odisha, the Hotel and Restaurant Association of Odisha (HRAO) has come forward to promote Odisha as a ‘21 night destination’ with special focus on tourist destinations in western Odisha.
The industry body is planning to attract investors for setting up additional 5000 rooms across the state in next couple of years to accommodate more tourists. The HRAO has also proposed the government to divide Odisha in nine tourism circuits keeping in view the need and taste of tourists.
“The upcoming airports at Jharsuguda, Rourkela and Jeypore will open a host of opportunities for the tourism sector in Odisha. Earlier our focus has been restricted to Konark-Puri-Bhubaneswar, but with better connectivity now we can focus on lesser known destinations, where visitors can stay for longer period and enjoy as per their taste,” said chairman HRAO, J K Mohanty. The ’21 night destination’ will be launched before the next tourist season, he said.
The proposed circuits include, Buddha in Odisha focusing Buddhist tourist spots, eco-tourism, ethnic tour, Golden Triangle of Odisha with Chilika lake, heritage tour, Similipal package, Debrigarh package, wildlife tour, and textile tour of Odisha
