The construction of the ropeway at the Hirakud dam will be completed before June 2018.
The Rs 6.26-crore project was delayed by a year due to redtape and lack of forest clearance. Work started from May after getting forest clearance. Chief minister Naveen patnaik laid the foundation stone of the project in September 2016.
The ropeway will start from the proposed Jawahar Udyan at Hirakud and it will reach the Gandhi Minar top.
The construction has been entrusted to Odisha Construction Corporation and Damodar Ropeway, a Calcutta-based company, has taken up the mechanical technical work.
