Hirakud Dam, Asia’s largest earthen dam, attracts a large number of tourists both from inside and outside the state. Apart from the dam, the Nehru Park and Gandhi Minar near the dam are other major attractions. The ropeway project is aimed at exploring the tourism potential of the site.
Naveen Patnaik today approved the construction of a ropeway that would connect Nehru Park with the Gandhi Minar on either side of the Hirakud dam to boost tourism in the area.
